Hey there!
I'm Aaron Foster
CEO & Owner of Backyard Box Office.
For over two decades, I've been obsessed with creating unforgettable entertainment experiences for audiences all over the Midwest. I started my first entertainment company at 15 (yeah, while most kids were playing video games, I was learning how to make events FUN).
Over the next 20 years, that little DJ service grew into a full-blown entertainment empire.
We did everything:

If it needed to be memorable, I was there.
Then life threw me a curveball...
My wife and I were blessed with our first child, and suddenly, those late-night events weren't looking so attractive anymore.
So I did what any reasonable person would do...
I retired from the entertainment business.
(Plot twist: That retirement didn't stick...)
Fast forward 12 years...
You know the one - where you miss being part of people's best memories?
Well, here's where it gets wild...
Late last Spring I'm scrolling through a Facebook group with businesses for sale all over the world, and what do I find?
An incredibly fun looking outdoor movie company that was for sale... just MINUTES from my house in Olathe, that was looking for a new owner since the previous owner was looking to relocate to be closer to his aging parents.
And the rest, as they say, is history!
Talk about destiny, right?
Our Mission
Here we are in 2025 and Backyard Box Office is celebrating 5 years of bringing Hollywood magic to Kansas City at hundreds of events all over the metro and beyond.
But we're not just setting up screens...
We're creating those "remember when" moments that people talk about for years.
The PTA fundraiser that doubled their previous year's results

From a teenage DJ, who dropped out of college to build an entertainment business full-time all the way to coming out of retirement and owning Kansas City's premier outdoor movie experience.
Pretty wild journey, right?
But here's the best part...

Yeah, we refer to her as the "Popcorn Princess" now here at Backyard Box Office since she absolutely loves coming to events and running the popcorn machine like a boss!
